Your tour will be outside, please note the following:

  • Appropriate clothing is a must, dress for the weather of the day.
  • Close toed shoes only!  No sandals or flip flops, boots are highly recommended.  They will get dirty.
  • Water bottle (if needed)
  • Sunscreen (please apply prior to your arrival – your tour time may be reduced for delays to apply sunscreen, etc.) 
  • Insect repellent (if needed)
  • Hat
We ask that all persons respect the following rules:
  • Safety First!  Always be aware of your surroundings.
  • No running, screaming or horse play – it can frighten the animals (a 1,000 pound frighted animal running scared isn’t aware of you).
  • Do not harass or tease the animals.  This is their home and you are a guest in it.
  • No headphones, you must be able to hear what is going on around you.
  • No chewing gum, it can cause death to some animals.
  • You may use your phone to take pictures of the animals, but please don’t text and walk.
  • Do not enter the pens unless you are instructed to do so.
  • Do not feed the animals, some plants are toxic to some animals.
  • Remember, fingers look like carrots.  Some animals bite.

Learn to Ride a Bike & Learn to Ride a Bike II (REI):

It is recommended that students learn on their own bikes; they can use them after our instructors assess them for safety and appropriateness. Students can store their bikes on campus during the week.  REI will provide a bike and helmet for students who need to borrow gear.

  • Sunscreen, Sunglasses, and/or Brimmed hat
  • Raincoat (please dress appropriate for the weather)
  • Wear comfortable clothes for hiking
  • Layers for changes in weather

Parkour:

What to bring:

  • Clothing that is comfortable and allows for free movement
River Fun:

What to bring:
– Lots of water
– Waterproof Sunscreen
– Something to get wet in (swimsuit)
– Lunch and Snacks
– Warm dry clothing for when you are off the water

Additional recommended items:
– Fleece or other synthetic clothing (not containing cotton) that can be worn under a wetsuit
– Kayak noseplugs (with a strap)
– A hat
– Sunglasses with retention strap (Croakies, etc.)
– Wetsuit booties or river sandals (must stay on when you swim)

This lesson includes all the kayaking gear you will need including a boat, paddle, skirt, PFD, helmet, splash jacket, wetsuit and booties.   If you have your own equipment, we encourage you to bring it since it is most likely what you will be using outside of this lesson.

  • Sunglasses with something (Croakie or similar) to hold them on if you fall in the water…and you will probably fall in at some point. 🙂

  • Bug repellant (we will probably have some extra, but it’s best to be prepared)
  • Water Bottle
  • Backpack…you’re going to have some stuff to put in it!

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:

  • Dry clothes in case it rains and we have to do an indoor activity
  • Tennis shoes / Keens / something you can play in indoors if necessary
  • Sweatshirt, in case it’s cold
  • Rain Jacket…in case it’s wet 🙂

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:

  • Camp / Lawn / Beach chair
  • Beach / Water toys…keep in mind it is QUITE POSSIBLE these items might get broken or lost…it’s a big lake and there are lots of people who may want to share your stuff.  Don’t bring anything you are worried about losing or getting broken!

THINGS WE WOULD LIKE YOU NOT TO BRING

  • Electronics – We are going to a LAKE and cannot guarantee your stuff will stay dry!  Also, the buses lock but there is no guarantee your stuff will be safe in the bus or at our campsite
  • Phones – I know some of you will have to have these, so please make sure to take all precautions to not lose them.  Also, make sure to have a Ziploc bag or something similar to keep them dry around the water
  • Cameras – we will take plenty of pictures and post them to the website for you to download
