It is recommended that students learn on their own bikes; they can use them after our instructors assess them for safety and appropriateness. Students bikes will be stored in a locked room campus during the week. A drop off location will be announced prior to camp.

Week 2 (June 13-17)
Monday- Zuma Rescue Ranch
An equestrian center providing equine education programs. All of our herd members have been rescued from homelessness, neglect and/or abusive situations. Once recovered, we give the horses roles as educators in our riding programs and therapy partners in our mental health programs.
Tuesday- Casa de Paz
Welcomes immigrants and reunites families recently released from ICE. They provide a variety of support services including lodging, food, clothing, internet, rides to the airport/bus terminal.

The Gardens at St. Elizabeth is a senior living facility in Denver. We will be playing games, making crafts and spending time with the residents.

Dumb Friends League is an animal shelter in Colorado that rescues animals & offers pet adoption, veterinary services & more.

Camp Itinerary:
Tuesday July 5th- Students will practice indoor rock climbing at the American Mountaineering Center.
Wednesday July 6th- Students will hike up to St. Mary’s glacier for sledding and exploration into snow science and ecology.
Thursday July 7th- Students will climb outdoors at Maxwell Falls or Three Sisters climbing area.
Friday July 8th- Students will go paddle boarding and learn other water sports at Bear Creek Lake State Park.

Itinerary:
Monday, June 6 Council Tree near Dinosaur Ridge with Jennee Hancock, Hiwan Museum Education Specialist
- Jennee will present on Indigenous history with ethnobotany and will also discuss ranch and homesteading. This site has Ute and Arapaho history as well as being near the historic Rooney Ranch. This is a private area set aside for staff programming so it is a unique opportunity for the girls to see an area that is closed to the public. We will meet with Jennee, have lunch and she will also lead us on a hike through this area.

Wednesday, June 8th - Staunton State Park with Colorado Women’s Fly Fishing
- Students will have the opportunity to hear from the volunteers in this organization about their love of the outdoors and their commitment to helping women find safe, comfortable spaces outdoors through fly fishing. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to fish with the guidance of volunteers and will eat lunch and play at the park before heading back to campus.
Thursday, June 9 Bear Creek Park with Lindsay Gillis, Park Ranger Naturalist
- Lindsay will talk to the girls about her journey in becoming a park ranger and will also guide them through archery practice! We will have lunch and hike by the creek before heading back to campus

Itinerary:
Tuesday July 5 – Carson Nature Center & South Platte Park (Littleton) – Crazy ‘Bout Crawdads! Strap on your water shoes as we go exploring in secluded ponds for local crayfish species. We will check out the Nature Center exhibits and live animals, and learn how the water cycle impacts flood zones in the interactive river table.
Wednesday July 6 – Evergreen Audubon Nature Center (Evergreen) – Up to the Montane forest we go! Our partners at Evergreen Audubon specialize in wildlife at higher elevations outside of Denver. We will go on a scavenger hunt in the Nature Center exhibits and then head outside to check out the wildlife living around Evergreen Lake along their beautiful boardwalk.
Thursday July 7 – Majestic View Nature Center (Arvada) – Who lives on the prairie and who polluted the water? This small urban refuge features a freshwater lake, beautiful pollinator gardens, and a fun Kids’ Nook play area in their Nature Center. We will play like prairie animals, learn about what can pollute our water, and check out the local pond wildlife.
Friday July 8 – Audubon Nature Center (Littleton) – Lets end the week with becoming beaver believers! We will finish our passport to nature at the Denver Audubon Nature Center at Chatfield State Park. Strap on your water shoes as we go looking for beaver dams along the South Platte River or maybe even catch a glimpse of the State threatened Northern Leopard Frog.

- Backpack…you’re going to have some stuff to put in it!
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:

- Tennis shoes / Keens / something you can play in indoors if necessary
- Sweatshirt, in case it’s cold
- Rain Jacket…in case it’s wet 🙂
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT:

- Beach / Water toys…keep in mind it is QUITE POSSIBLE these items might get broken or lost…it’s a big lake and there are lots of people who may want to share your stuff. Don’t bring anything you are worried about losing or getting broken!

- Electronics – We are going to a LAKE and cannot guarantee your stuff will stay dry! Also, the buses lock but there is no guarantee your stuff will be safe in the bus or at our campsite
- Phones – I know some of you will have to have these, so please make sure to take all precautions to not lose them. Also, make sure to have a Ziploc bag or something similar to keep them dry around the water
- Cameras – we will take plenty of pictures and post them to the website for you to download
