During this creative camp, campers will explore a different medium, from small to large canvases, wood panels, and tote bags, and paint happy trees to their heart’s content. The best part? Your camper will go home with several creations that are uniquely theirs. Daily treats will be served as well!

Daily skill and performance workshops are taught in juggling, tumbling, tightrope, clowning, stilts, unicycle, and rolling globe. Special classes are offered in the aerial arts: Spanish Web, Aerial Hoop, Single Trapeze, Aerial Balance Cube, and Aerial Fabric. This is an excellent artistic and athletic activity that builds immense self-esteem and amazing performance skills. Participants may enroll for one or both weeks.

This is a great chance to learn the basics of the potter’s wheel in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. Artists also have a chance to explore the fundamentals of hand building with clay.

In this week-long camp, makers will use cardboard, wood scraps and up-cycled materials to create all sorts of carnival-inspired crafts. Developed by a crew of crafty kids at Park Hill Elementary, our Space Craft Camp is out of this world! Forget the big box toy store. Put down the Legos. In this week-long camp, makers will explore a variety of building techniques to design and create the most awesome playthings. We will use tools, wood, and wheels to create rolling toys, stitch together dolls and stuffed animals, we’ll even use recycled materials to invent games and activities that will keep your child engaged long after camp is over. On the last day of camp we will collaborate to create a child run pop-up market for those who would like to sell their creations. Kids will learn about design, craftsmanship, safety, business, marketing, and more, all while having a blast.

Denver Chamber Music Camp at Colorado Academy (Entering Grades 4-12)

Denver Chamber Music Camp is open to strings playing students of all ages who are at the following playing levels:

Violin: Suzuki Book 4 or Equivalent

Viola:  Suzuki Book 2 or Equivalent

Cello: Suzuki Book 3 or Equivalent

Students also need to have basic music-reading skills. A day at chamber camp includes a coaching session with your assigned chamber ensemble; an enrichment class, including theory, ear training, music history, and more; and orchestra. The orchestra plays everything from Bach to Rock and will perform all these different genres at the final concert on Friday, July 12 at noon. All parents and friends are invited. All classes are taught by Denver professional musicians.

Learn the art of character creation and solo performance from award-winning theater teacher Jason Lemire. In this full day, one-week class for Grades 6 - 9, students will learn the secrets of creating their own, mini one-person show. Over the course of the week, students will work with Jason to create their own characters and write their own monologues, infusing them with humor, drama and dynamism. As the week progresses, students will refine their scripts and hone their acting skills in preparation for a final, dynamic performance. Learn how to tell incredible stories on stage with dance, pantomime, improvisation and teamwork with award-winning theater teacher Jason Lemire. In this full day, one-week class for Grades 3 - 9, students will spend the week learning to work together to tell dynamic stories with movement and imagination. Often funny, always fun, using movement to tell stories helps kids build confidence, teamwork and creativity. The session will culminate with a series of final performances, some rehearsed and others totally improvised. From young thespians looking to strengthen their onstage presence, to "non-theater" kids just looking to have fun and improve their ability to collaborate with others, this class is built for everyone!

The Alchemy Theater Project (Entering Grades 6-9)

The Alchemy Theater Project is a one-week camp for students Grades 6 - 9 where they will get to use theater to explore their own personal questions, curiosities and passions.  The week begins with each student selecting an area of interest that they would like to learn more about: from robotics to helping animals, learning to relax or dealing with conflict, the choice is entirely up to each individual student! We will then spend the week building characters and stories around these areas of interest, including visits from virtual guest mentors. The ATP will culminate with both a group performance and an individual "expertise" presentation. This club is perfect for both kids who love theater and kids who have special interests that they're eager to explore more deeply.

The ukulele has seen a surge in popularity recently due to its ease of play, portable size, and signature sound. Come learn a new instrument that has been featured recently in many popular songs. You’ll learn the notes and chords you need to play many of your favorite songs, old and new. Campers may use their own instrument, or borrow a ukulele from the instructor.

Learn about the fascinating history and process of lost wax casting. Students will practice their 3-D sculpture skills using a variety of media and create a final project, a 1-11⁄2 lb. sculpture to be cast in bronze (expect a 2-week turnaround time). Campers will take home a unique keepsake for their family to enjoy for years.

In this jam-packed camp, each artist creates his/her own mural on muslin. We learn the process and steps to making a big painting, using techniques of scenic painting, faux finishing, and trompe l’oeil. Our murals can be applied to a wall at home, framed, or hung like a tapestry.

Experience the classic pastime of weaving.  This camp uses a combination of artistic techniques and creativity.. We’ll work with recycled materials, fabric, and yarn to make a one-of-a-kind art project such as a cardboard eye with which we will weave and add color. This camp is designed for students to study the art of taekwondo in a positive learning environment that focuses on life skills, such as respect and self-control. Each student receives special instruction appropriate to their skill/knowledge level. New students begin by learning various techniques essential to the art of taekwondo. Ongoing students continue to work towards new goals and expand on their leadership experience. During the week, we work on many different taekwondo drills and activities, as well as learn about respect for self and others, teamwork, self-defense, and fitness! At the beginning of the week, all students earn a belt. Throughout the week, students receive "stripes" on that belt, signifying the completion of certain activities, providing a fun goal for kids to work on during camp. This camp is active fun for kids of all ages and experience levels with martial arts!

Superhero Training Academy (Entering Grades K-3)

Daily superhero costumes are encouraged at this camp where caped crusaders will build a spider web and learn to climb through it, melt ice with laser vision, and strength train. That’s not all! Campers will shoot a rocket through a hoop, run at lightning speed, solve puzzles like Super Girl, karate chop a bad guy, and climb through a tunnel. By the end of camp you’ll be prepared to be a light in the universe.
